Sunday October 16 Afternoon Workshop: 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Arlene Cugelman RN, RT

For Arlene the healing path has been a life focus; first as an RN in ICU and later in dialysis acting as Team Lead and Clinical Educator in a Home Dialysis Program.  While self-care and resilience were a hallmark of her career, this was significantly enhanced in the past 25 years with the addition of Therapeutic Touch as a regular part of her nursing care for patients, families and colleagues.  Personal growth took her to study in Australia as a midwife, then to Hawaii where she studied and practiced multiple complementary therapies. In Hawaii she discovered meditation and spirituality which lead to many trips to India.  Following an illness in 1992 Arlene was introduced to Therapeutic Touch. It became the new life focus with attendances at intensive invitational retreats with Dr. Dolores Krieger and Dora Kunz at Pumpkin Hollow Farm; the Montana Dialogues with Dr. Krieger; and at several TTIA Congresses between 2015 and 2022.  She became a Recognized Practitioner with the TTNO in 1994, then Teacher in 1996, following which she attended yearly TTNO conferences, presenting both there and in Halifax.  She was guest presenter for the Eastern Ontario Arnprior weekend retreats in 2016 and 2019.  She co-developed and led groups to Peru in 2018 and 2019 where she taught Advanced Therapeutic Touch. Since 2013 Arlene has been an active volunteer in the hospice residential program of Simcoe County, offering and teaching Therapeutic Touch to patients and staff.

Consciousness is the Power of the Heart

How to stay centered in a suffering world?  Inspired by D. Krieger’s words:

“The power for healing rests at least as much upon what you yourself are as on what you do, for the subtle structure of our own vital energy field is the medium for your healing message.”

You are invited to explore an afternoon of gentle swim or deep dive in the supporting energies of self-care. A time just for you to replenish and restore the energy field that is you. Our experiential focus on meditation, silence, sound/mantra and self-compassion will strengthen the fulcrum of scaffolding that we are and that we provide in the dynamic process of Therapeutic Touch.  We will combine aspects of Krieger’s teachings, illustrating her statement above through her focus on shifts of consciousness and compassion as the engine of Therapeutic Touch. The more consciously aware and aligned we become, the greater the access to our heart’s energy for healing within and without.

The 2021 Conference Committee is thrilled to offer these workshops to our members and non-members of the TTNO and sister networks.  The registration is now available from the website and through the office.  Watch your inbox for more information. If you have any questions about the conference, please contact Mariann Canning at

All conference hours can be used for maintaining RP status.
